We give our guests the choice: towels and bed linen are only changed upon request. Guests who stay longer and opt out of daily cleaning make a direct contribution to reducing water and detergent consumption. A simple choice with measurable impact.
We source regionally, seasonally, and as locally as possible. Products from Central Switzerland are given priority. Short transport routes reduce environmental impact – and bring fresher ingredients to our kitchen.
We maintain close relationships with local producers and regularly review our sourcing for origin and sustainability.
We send invoices, confirmations, and guest information digitally. Internal processes are gradually being transitioned to paperless. Where printing is unavoidable, we use recycled paper.
Our location by Lake Lucerne comes with responsibility to protect the local environment. We actively support native flora and fauna through nature-oriented outdoor design, avoiding pesticides, and using environmentally friendly cleaning products.
We encourage our guests to travel using environmentally friendly transport. With two EV charging stations on site, we make climate-friendly mobility easy during your stay.
If you arrive by public transport, you’ll find us right at the Neubüel Weggis bus stop – easily reachable from Lucerne in just 40 minutes.
Whether in-room amenities or small takeaways – we avoid plastic and single-use products. Our giveaways are regionally produced, durable, and designed with sustainability in mind.
Our hotel is powered by district heating. We rely on renewable energy sources and continuously work to reduce our overall energy consumption.
Poorly insulated windows, unnecessary heating, uncontrolled standby usage – energy losses don’t just cost money, they also impact the climate. We invest specifically in optimizing our building envelope, smart heating controls, and energy-efficient lighting to systematically reduce these losses.
Sustainability is a shared effort. What we can achieve alone is limited – what we can achieve together with our guests is not.
-
Travel by public transport whenever possible – Weggis is easily accessible from Lucerne
-
Skip daily linen changes – a towel can easily be used for more than one day
-
Make a voluntary contribution via myclimate when booking – we will double it
-

-
Sustainability is not a destination – it’s a journey. We communicate our progress transparently and openly acknowledge where we still have work to do. Our next steps:
-
Expanding paperless communication across all guest processes
-
Further strengthening regional supplier partnerships in the kitchen
-
Implementing systematic energy monitoring across all areas
-
Introducing smart heating control systems
-
Aiming to achieve Swisstainable Level 3 “Leading”

Sustainability at Hotel Alpenblick Weggis
What we decide today shapes what will be possible tomorrow. This applies to every generation – and to every business. At Hotel Alpenblick, we have chosen to take responsibility: for our guests, for the Lake Lucerne region, and for the environment in which we operate every day.
Sustainability is not a marketing promise for us – it is a lived part of our daily operations. From room cleaning to our menu to the energy that powers our hotel: we continuously question, optimize, and improve.
“Lake Lucerne and Mount Rigi are our daily inspiration – and our responsibility to preserve this beauty.”
Our Certifications & Memberships
We openly commit to our responsibility – and have our efforts measured and verified by independent programs.
Swisstainable – Level 2 “Engaged”
Hotel Alpenblick carries the Swisstainable label by Switzerland Tourism at Level 2 “Engaged”. This label recognizes tourism businesses that actively and measurably commit to sustainable practices across environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Certification is independently audited and must be renewed regularly.
myclimate – cause we care
As a member of “cause we care” by myclimate, we actively support voluntary climate protection. With every booking, guests have the option to make a voluntary contribution – which we double as a hotel. These funds support climate protection projects and local sustainable initiatives.
Schnarwiler Natural Cosmetics – SWISS MADE in Weggis
In our rooms, we exclusively use products from Schnarwiler Naturkosmetik, a local company from Weggis that transforms natural Swiss ingredients into high-quality cosmetics. Regional and sustainable. For every refill product sold, Schnarwiler actively supports global efforts to reduce plastic pollution.
